Non-surgical Orthopedic PRP Treatment ..PRP is not “New”

The use of PRP goes back more than 20 years, and Dr. Bennett has been using it to successfully treat patients for many of those years. While the media frequently refers to PRP as a “new” procedure, it is not new to Dr. Bennett, who has been an early-adopter and pioneer in non-surgical treatment of orthopedic injuries with stem cells and PRP.

How Does PRP Work?

Platelet Rich Plasma (“PRP”), spun from a patient’s own blood, uses growth factors called cytokines to enhance healing and cell proliferation.

Its medical uses are diverse, ranging from osteoarthritis and tendinitis to oral surgery and heart muscle repair. PRP helps to heal bone, tendon, ACL, and other sports injuries. Dr. Bennett routinely uses it to treat particularly stubborn injuries like tennis elbow, as well as major joints such as the hips and knees. Both acute injuries and longer term, chronic injuries, such as degenerative arthritis, have been effectively treated by Dr. Bennett using PRP alone, or in combination with other minimally invasive techniques.

Patients from all walks of life, from world-famous athletes to patients over 80 years of age, benefit from the extensive expertise Dr. Bennett has developed over the years. The effectiveness of PRP depends on the quality of the equipment used and the knowledge of the physician performing the procedure. Studies show that different concentrations and methods of creating PRP are best for different types of injuries, which makes years of experience very important when selecting the right doctor. It is also important to choose an orthopedic surgeon, who can combine PRP with other techniques as appropriate to optimize your individual results.
